Ethics in business is the set of moralvalues that the professionals of any field are expected to respect when theydeal either with each other or with the public .In business , ethics representsthe attitudes that individuals and firms should comply with in the actions theyperform and the decisions they take at every level of their realisations. Sucha philosophy does not exist every where because it needs the existence of importantconditions to apply it.
In societies where both political and cultural conditions exist for makingevery one obey this practice , the main principles that those engaged in theeconomic branches should follow involve a good number of the qualities thathave always served as the basis for civilisation. Among them we find theobligation to be honest and lawful in one’s activities. It is also essential toact in conformity with the spirit of fair competition which imposes theacceptance of new comers in one’s sphere and forbids the recourse to the use ofmonopolisation not only in the spheres of manufacturing and selling goods butalso as regards the services which are provided to the community.
Next to these aspects , ethics requires from various members and groups ofeconomic sectors the payment of one’s taxes to the state and the necessity totreat one’s employees with fairness either in the question of salaries or inmatters related to the various social benefits they have the right to such asinsurance policies , retirement pensions and the protection from professionalaccidents.
To sum up , the moral values in modern societies necessitate from businessmenand companies alike a strict observance of the different precepts on which theefficiency and the prosperity of the whole community depends.
